MISSION

The WIMS Recognition Committee was established under the leadership of Brenda Rongish, PhD, during the 2010-2011 year. Among the committee's many accomplishments they first determined the focus was to establish ways to recognize and honor women on the faculty in the School of Medicine. As a result, the following has been established:

Program Committee Guidelines

WIMS By-Laws: Article IV , Committees

Section I. The standing committees of the WIMS shall be the program committee, and mentoring committee.  Additional committees, as needed will be determined by council.

Section II. The president shall appoint, from the EC, a chair for each of the standing committees. The committee chair shall appoint interested members of the KU faculty to the committee. Members of the standing committees shall serve for a period of at least one year but may choose to serve in that capacity for greater than one year.

Section III. The program committee shall be responsible for the section of the topic, speaker, and location of the programs. The programs will focus on promoting careers for women in medicine and science as well as on women’s health issues.

Section IV. The president may appoint ad hoc committees as needed for fulfillment of the aims of the organization. Ad hoc committees may be terminated by a majority vote of the EC.
