AWARDS & RECOGNITION

Established in 1992 by our founding President Amy O'Brien-Ladner, MD, the WIMS faculty organization continues to seeks ways to further the professional goals of women physicians and basic scientists along with our nursing and allied health professional colleagues on the University of Kansas Medical Center campus. The goal of the WIMS Recognition Committee is to establish mechanisms to recognize our female faculty members as they achieve academic career success and satisfaction. Please feel free to contact any member of the committee with your ideas or your desire to become involved.

  • Women's Hall of Fame - The WIMS Organization will nominate one woman every year from either the School of Medicine, Nursing or Allied Health. This past year, our nominee Dr. Patricia Thomas was honored with being inducted.
  • The WIMS Organization will nominate woman for the School of Medicine Faculty Mentoring Awards. Make suggestions to the WIMS Recognition Committee Chair to begin the process.

University of Kansas Women's Recognition Program

The University of Kansas Women’s Recognition Program, a tradition on campus since the mid 1960’s, honors KU women who have made notable contributions to the campus and community.  This program recognizes and awards women students, faculty, staff and alumnae who have enriched and improved the campus community through their service, teaching, or involvement.  It is sponsored by the ETWRC and the Commission on the Status of Women and is held annually in April.
