Making Humor Work for You: Taking Yourself Lightly and Your Work Seriously was presented by Jae Pierce-Baba, OTR.. The goal of the session was to help faculty recognize that fun is a vital component of an effective work environment and that humor is a very important form of communication. Fun in the workplace builds a strong sense of community while counterbalancing the stress of hard work. By adding a little humor in the workplace, employees can experience a joyful work environment while maintaining a high level of professionalism and competence. Also, having a light-hearted approach to work creates team identity, helps manage conflicts, boost morale and strengthens relations with co-workers, administration, and the patients and the families you serve.
