Congratulations to Hannah Maxfield, M.D., Assistant Professor in the Department of Family Medicine and Page Geiger, Ph.D., Assistant Professor in the Department of Molecular And Integrative Physiology! These two junior faculty members have been accepted to attend the AAMC Early Career Women Professional Development Seminar in Washington, DC, July 12-15 2008 and will be sponsored by KUMC's Women in Medicine and Science Program.

Received first Federal grant from the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism, May 15, 2007. The 3-year K01 (Career Development) award funds statistical training and the development of a large epidemiological data base to study perinatal neurodevelopmental factors that may be associated with the development of alcoholism in men and women. It is a collaborative research effort with the Danish Institute of Preventive Medicine.
