For Client/Server, Think Thin
When it comes to total cost of ownership for desktop computing services, thin-client computing is a bottom-line winner. Thin-client computing promises a remedy; it centralizes management and delivers some applications to PC desktops via browsers, Java Virtual Machines and remote-presentation technology. Additional users require a $39.95 NT Client License (NT CAL) and $109.95 Terminal Server Client Access License (TSE CAL). Improvements in PCs, Windows terminals, Java computers, specialized thin-client devices and simplified mass-access devices, such as Web TVs, will follow software developments.
