Dennis Schukman is the systems coordinator and HIPAA technical compliance manager for the University of Kansas Center for Telemedicine & Telehealth. Working with Dedrick Hooper, he maintains and updates many of the interactive televideo systems in use at the University of Kansas Medical Center and at numerous telemedicine sites scattered throughout Kansas.
Mr. Schukman troubleshoots connections between the patient's location and the provider, both before and during a telehealth event. He works closely with the information resources department at KU Medical Center to ensure secure, HIPAA-compliant high-quality video throughout the network. He sets up and monitors point-to-point and multipoint video conferences on a video bridge and works with department staff for the scheduling of ITV clinics and conferences.
Mr. Schukman has over a decade of experience in electronic communication technologies including computers and videoconferencing. Additionally he has spent the last eight years in the field of telemedicine and has attended many professional training seminars related to these technologies. He graduated from NCK Vocational Technical School in Advanced Computer Applications.
