Telemedicine Consult Request

New Billing Information

We are currently negotiating with insurance carriers regarding reimbursement for Telemedicine Consultations.  As we gain the ability to bill for our services, the patient's responsibilities might change.  Please read the following and ensure that you and your patients understand these potential changes.

Some insurance carriers now provide a telemedicine benefit, and more are expected to do so in the near future.

  • If your carrier currently reimburses for telemedicine, it will be billed in the same manner as for a traditional consultation. In that event, you may be responsible for any deductibles, coinsurance, remaining balances, or co-payments.
  • If your health insurance carrier does not reimburse for a telemedicine consultation, or you have no insurance, you will not be billed for your telemedicine visit.
  • As more insurance carriers begin reimbursing for telemedicine, your insurance status may change.
  • Additionally, some insurance carriers require a referral and/or an authorization.  It is the patient's responsibility to obtain these.

If there are any questions, please contact your insurance carrier. For questions about telemedicine and the TeleKidcare® Program, talk to your School Nurse, or contact the University of Kansas Center for Telemedicine and Telehealth (KUCTT) at 913-588-2226
