As the Systems Coordinator, Dennis manages multiple video conference rooms and video conferencing systems at KUMC, and multiple telemedicine outreach sites throughout the state. This includes the management of the two transmission protocols H.320 (telephone lines) and H.323 (internet protocol or IP connectivity) used for video conferencing and adapting some sites from H.320 to H.323 as needed. Dennis also troubleshoots connectivity issues before and during live events and collaborates with KUMC’s Information Resources Department to ensure secure, HIPAA compliant, high quality video throughout the network. He sets up and monitors point-to-point and multipoint video conferences on a video bridge and works with department staff for the scheduling of ITV clinics and conferences. Mr. Schukman is responsible for maintaining and updating all telemedicine equipment at KUMC and many of the outreach sites. He is also our HIPAA Technical Compliance Manager.
Dennis has over 12 years experience in technologies such as computers, video conferencing and other electronics, with the last 8 years spent in the telemedicine field, and has attended many professional training seminars related to electronic technologies. He graduated from NCK Vocational Technical School in Advanced Computer Applications.
He is a past member of Phi Beta Lambda, a Professional Business Association and NaSPA, the Association for Corporate Computing Professionals.
