Continuing Education

The University of Kansas Center for Telemedicine and Telehealth provides educational programs for physicians, nurses, and allied health professionals via ITV, as well as health education programs for patients and their families.

Continuing education credit is offered to health care professionals through the KUMC Continuing Education office and the three Area Health Education Centers (AHEC) in the state of Kansas. The only fees involved are those for the CE credits. Programs offered in the past included such subjects as "Management of Infectious Disease," "Treatment Options for Urinary Incontinence," and "Cost Effective Use of Antibiotics."

KU AHEC produces a bi-monthly newsletter. You can see the most recent issue on their site.

Programs are continually being developed. We welcome any and all suggestions.

Community Education

Patient Education Programs are presentations designed for the general public (patients and their families) and have been very well received with some sites experiencing "standing room only" participation. These free programs allow participants throughout the state to access and interact with specialists located at KUMC. Many who participate state that they would not receive information they obtain from these programs from any other source. To date, series have been offered on Weight Management, Smoking Cessation, Attention Deficit / Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Childhood Depression, and an Alzheimer's Caregivers Workshop.

Programs are continually being developed. We welcome any and all suggestions.
