BLS Affirmation- Before beginning any class, each student, undergraduate or
graduate, must pass and receive affirmation in Basic Life Support 1 and 2 person, adult, infant and obstructed airway. This certification must be maintained throughout your coursework. Failure to meet this requirement will result in removal from your clinical placement. Prior to beginning any clinical placement you must send a photocopy of your card to your clinical instructor.
State License- All RN to BSN and graduate students must maintain a current nursing license throughout their coursework. Each student must send a copy of their current nursing license to their clinical instructor prior to beginning any clinical experiences. You must be licensed in the state in which you do your clinical practicum.
Contracts- A memorandum of agreement between your clinical site and the University of Kansas Medical Center School of Nursing must be in place before you begin your clinical practicum.
Malpractice Insurance- Medical, nursing, and other students in clinical courses are covered by malpractice insurance when they enter the school of medicine, allied health, or nursing until the appropriate degree is granted with the following exceptions:
- Withdrawal
- Dismissal from School
- Leave of Absence or students not enrolled for summer session.
- Completion of all academic requirements for their degree
