In NRSG 810 you will need to complete clinical hours working with a MD, DO, NP or PA preceptor. The focus of the course is on learning through clinical practice to perform a comprehensive patient history and physical exam (meaning head to toe) as well as focused (meaning an exam limited to a specific system or systems of the body) histories and exams. You will want to select a clinical site that will allow you to develop these skills as well as begin to develop clinical reasoning based on the results of your history and exam. Students may have up to two clinical sites for this course. Suggested clinical sites include:
Long Term Care Facilities
Hospice/Palliative care settings
Prisons/Jails
Rehabilitation Centers (physical and psychological)
Family Planning Clinics, Free Health Clinics
Student Health Centers on College Campuses
Employee Health Clinics
Workman’s Compensation Clinics
Pediatric Clinics
Retail Clinics
Cardiologist, Pulmonologist
Oncologist
Neurologist
Endocrinologist
Please avoid selecting an urgent care or emergency departments.
You may not precept with a provider you encounter in your work environment.
