History

Since 1989 the University of Kansas School of Nursing has been privileged to provide the Nursing: The Heart of Healthcare awards as a public to service to all of Kansas and the metropolitan Kansas City area. Through this truly unique program nearly 6,000 registered nurses have been honored with nominations for their outstanding professional work. With the selection of 10 recipients per year 180 exceptional nurses have now received this prestigious award.

During the evaluation of the 2008 program, it was determined that the KU School of Nursing will offer the Nursing: The Heart of Healthcare awards program every other year. We hope that this will both facilitate and encourage continued participation from all of our supporters, sponsors and health care organizations.

This program has a rich history of recognition of nurses and the nursing profession.

We hope you will be excited when we return and that you will once again extend us your support. Since 1989 we have said, “Nurses give so much, now you can give back to them” and soon we will again be doing just that.

Thank you for your loyal support.  If you have any questions please do not hesitate to call Kari Ziblut, program director, at (913) 588-1616, (800) 308-0890 or via email at kziblut@kumc.edu.
