Judith J. Warren, PhD, RN, BC, FAAN, FACMI is Christine A. Hartley Centennial Professor of Nursing, the SEEDS Program Director, and coordinator of the graduate healthcare informatics specialty track at the University Kansas School of Nursing, as well as the Director of Nursing Informatics in the University of Kansas Center for Healthcare Informatics. Adapting electronic health record software she developed, in partnership with Cerner Corporation, the Simulated E-hEalth Delivery System (SEEDS) to teach students how to analyze data from virtual patient case studies, simulations and clinical experiences while developing informatics competencies. This system is now being used by nine other schools of nursing, one school of medicine and one school of allied health. She is a member of the National Committee on Vital and Health Statistics (NCVHS) and co-chair of its Standards Subcommittee, an advisory body to the Secretary of the U.S. Department on Health and Human Services on health data, statistics and national health information policy.

Dr. Warren is the past co-chair of HL7's Patient Care Technical Committee, an informatics standards development organization. She serves on the Quality Committee of the International Health Terminology Standards Development Organization (IHTSDO) which develops SNOMED CT (a leading multidisciplinary standardized terminology), and is chairperson of the IHTSDO Nursing Special Interest Group. Due to her knowledge of SNOMED CT, she was invited to be a member of an IHE team to develop the first profile that highlighted nursing knowledge and practice and focused on patient assessment. This team was so successful that IHE added a Nursing subcommittee to their structure.  She is a member of the organizing committee for the Nursing Terminology Summit. Dr. Warren is a Fellow in both the American Academy of Nursing and the American College of Medical Informatics.  She has taught, published, and conducted research in nursing informatics since 1988. She is an ANCC certified Informatics Nurse.
