Vicki M. Ross, RN, PhD, is currently a research assistant professor and teaches
graduate courses at the KU School of Nursing. She also serves as data manager
for the research project Technological Home Care: Improving HPN Care with Videophone
and Internet Education. Ross also has had positions at the KU School of Nursing
as data manager for the Rural Dwelling Older Adults: CPAP Adherence Support
project at KUMC, was a graduate teaching assistant and research assistant for
the Kansas Medicaid Managed Care Evaluation Project.
Ross is the recipient of the Melba Carter Award for Outstanding Dissertation
in the field of Health Promotion and Disease Prevention, the Millennium Scholar
Award, KU Alumni Award, the Brill Scholarship and the Taunton Medal. Prior
to working at KUMC, Ross also received the UMKC Women’s Council Award.
Her research projects have included: Clinical Symptoms of Central Venous Catheter
Related Infections, Independent assessment of Kansas Medicaid Managed Care,
The efficacy of clinical symptoms for determining central venous catheter related
infections: A secondary analysis and Prealbumin as a marker for nutritional
status.
Ross is a member of the American Society of Parenteral and
Enteral Nutrition (ASPEN) and serves as chair of the Nutritional Access Device
Section, is a reviewer for a Self-Study Project and Standards for Hospitalized
Patients, is a Certified Nutritional Support Nurse certification awarded 1993
and is a member of Sigma Theta Tau International.
