An associate professor and assistant dean at the KU School of Nursing, Anita Wingate, RN, PhD has taught since 1971 in both the undergraduate and graduate programs at the School. She has taught pathophysiology course, including a web-based version for nurses returning to earn their baccalaureate degree. Her enjoyment of this teaching has been rewarded by teaching awards such as the Jayhawker RN Award (1975, 1998, 2000), the Chancellor's Distinguished Teaching Award (1997), and the W.T. Kemper Fellowship for Teaching Excellence (1999).

Dr. Wingate's research interests have focused on issues on oncology nursing and she has directed numerous student in their master's research projects and theses. She has an ongoing interest in effective faculty governance and has served on many university committees, including chairing the KUMC Faculty Steering committee in 1999-2000.
