Suzy maintains a dual role in education and practice, with certification as an advanced practice nurse in psychiatric/mental health nursing of children and adolescents. She instructs undergraduate nursing students in their mental health practicum and also mentors graduate students at Crittenton Behavioral Health. Her advanced practice role with children and adolescents at Crittenton includes medication management, psychiatric assessments and individual psychotherapy.
With many years of experience in mental health nursing, Suzy has provided consultation for the Division of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at KUMC and presented workshops about motivational interviewing, group and family therapy and child psychiatry. She also participated in a faculty fellowship at the Center for Substance Abuse Prevention. Professional affiliations include the American Psychiatric Nurses Association and Sigma Theta Tau, International. She’s also a member of the Board of Directors of the Johnson County Mental Health Center.
