Dr. Ellen C. Rindner, who is the lead teacher in N340/N341, is beginning her fourth year of teaching N340/341 at the KUMC SON. Dr. Rindner is also the lead teacher of N360/N361 Mental Health Nursing in the Spring and Summer Semesters and takes her students for psychiatric-mental health clinicals at the VAMC in Kansas City, Mo.
Dr. Rindner has been a nurse educator, nurse administrator and nurse practitioner in psych/mental health nursing during the last 32 years. She graduated from KUMC SON with a Doctor of Philosophy in Nursing in May of 2004. She won the KUMC Alumnae Leadership Award for a PhD Student and her research about children and adolescents and their embarrassment about having Tourette's Syndrome won the SON's Roma Lee Taunton and School of Public Health award for the graduate research forum in April of 2004.
Dr. Rindner is teaching in the NP and DNP program in nursing this fall in NRSG 846 PMH Nsg: Practicum this Fall. She is also working on a grant with Dr. Eve-Lynn Nelson on Depression in Youth.
Dr. Rindner also has her own private practice in Overland Park and works as a Family Psychiatric/Mental Health Board Certified Nurse Practitioner with children, adolescents and adults one day a week at Midwest Psychiatric Associates.
