Jill Peltzer is a clinical instructor at the KU School of Nursing. She is a seminar leader and clinical instructor in the Foundations in Nursing and Health Promotion Practicum. Prior to becoming a clinical instructor, she primarily worked in the acute care setting, ranging from neurology to hematology/oncology; and has practiced in a CNS role in pain management and medicine. In 2002, Peltzer joined the Peace Corps and spent time in South Africa as an HIV/AIDS Capacity Builder, sparking a passion for population based health, particularly in the context of vulnerable populations and health disparities.
Peltzer is currently working on her doctoral degree in nursing, with an emphasis in public health nursing. Her research interests include health seeking behaviors among rural elderly, health disparities among vulnerable populations, health care systems that promote health among the uninsured and underinsured populations and spirituality as a component of holistic nursing practice. She is currently a co-investigator conducting a qualitative case study to explore the development of a successful Community Health Center in a rural community that provides comprehensive services to an uninsured and underinsured population of Kansans.
