Mary Hobbs Leenerts earned both her bachelor's and master's degrees from the University of Nebraska. She received her doctoral degree from the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center School of Nursing. Her research interests focus on women's health and the self-care practices of low-income women diagnosed with HIV/AIDS. Her most recent study explores the self-care practices of incarcerated HIV+ women. The study is funded by the American Nurses Foundation.
