Naomi King was appointed clinical assistant professor for the University of Kansas School of Nursing in 2002. Before her appointment, King was a clinical instructor for the School of Nursing.
Alumna of the school, King received her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in nursing. Her desire to excel in the nursing profession is exemplified through the awards and honors she has received during her career. King has been a nominee for the School of Nursing, Nursing: The Heart of Healthcare and Phyllis Kenney Lawrence Teaching awards and is a four-time recipient of the Jayhawker, RN Clinical Award presented by the senior class. In addition, she was the 2000 recipient of the Excellence in Teaching Award from the University of Kansas Center for Teaching Excellence and was featured in Who’s Who Among America’s Teachers in 2004.
While at KU, she has been active with PROFITS (Professional Integrity System), undergraduate counseling and KU Student Nurses (KUSN). King is always attending continuing education and professional development activities and conducting research to further develop her education. She is an active member of Sigma Theta Tau, International and works PRN at the University of Kansas Hospital on the Trauma, General and Plastic Surgery Unit.
