Dr. Brewer, an associate professor at the KU School of Nursing, comes to KU from the Georgia Baptist College of Nursing of Mercer University, Atlanta, Ga., where she was professor. She received her PhD and MS in Nursing from Georgia State University; her BSN from Brenau Women's College, Gainesville, Ga.; and her diploma in nursing from St. Francis Hospital School of Nursing, Evanston, Ill. Her research focus is in the area of effective teaching strategies for nursing students and faculty. Her clinical expertise is in the area of substance abuse and alcoholism among women. She is a Psych/Mental Health Clinical Nurse Specialist who has been actively involved in community settings working with mental health clients.
