Annette Becker has worked at the University of Kansas Medical Center since 1996 overseeing various research projects with the Center on Aging, the Department of Preventive Medicine & Public Health, and the School of Nursing. She has participated in project development and coordination on multiple levels including directing a clinical trial involving smoking cessation, a cognitive study involving stroke survivors, and a four-year mobility study.
Becker is an adult literacy tutor at Maple Woods College and was a graduate researcher in psychology at the University of Missouri-Kansas City from 1993-94. While at Truman State University, she was appointed as a student ambassador and was elected president of Psi Chi, the national honor society in psychology.
As the research instructor and project director for the University of Kansas Medical Center, Becker oversees a statewide initiative examining the consistency of the nursing facility survey process in Kansas. Becker conducts focus groups, monitors survey teams, assists the biostatistician with data management, and submits progress reports to the Kansas Department on Aging and the Kansas Department of Health and Environment.
