Martha B. Baird, PhD, MSN, RN
Clinical Assistant Professor
Dr. Baird has been practicing nursing for 33 years. Her professional credentials include: Diploma in nursing from Research School of Nursing in Kansas City, Missouri in 1976; Baccalaureate in Nursing from Avila College in Kansas City, Missouri in 1979; Master of Nursing from the University of Kansas Medical Center in Kansas City, Kansas in 1987; and a PhD in nursing from the University of Arizona in Tucson, Arizona in 2009. Her dissertation research was an ethnographic study about the resettlement transition experiences of refugee women from the Dinka tribe of southern Sudan who came to the USA with their children.
Dr. Baird is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Nursing in the School of Nursing at the University of Kansas Medical Center and isW also in clinical practice as a psychiatric nurse practitioner with children and adults in Lenexa, Kansas. Dr. Baird has had transnational clinical experiences in the Dominican Republic, China and Uganda. Dr. Baird is a member of the Transcultural Nursing Society, a reviewer for the Journal of Transcultural Nursing and received certification as a Transcultural Nurse.
