Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP)

 

DNP Admission Process

The deadline for receipt of completed applications is March 1st for fall semester.  Applications for spring and summer admission may be considered on a space-available basis.  Please check the KU SoN website for application deadlines if space becomes available.

All applicants must submit:

  • completed Application for Graduate Study;
  • official transcripts all of  academic work taken toward the bachelor's and master's degrees in nursing (except from the University of Kansas);
  • three references from advanced practice nurses, nursing faculty or physicians who are able to attest to the applicant's potential ability to practice at the highest level of advanced nursing practice and to engage in scholarly activity and leadership roles;
  • a statement of career goals and practice interests;
  • a resume';
  • evidence of current licensure as a professional nurse in one state;
  • $60 application fee (non-refundable) in check or money order payable to the University of Kansas School of Nursing.

The Admissions Committee of the School of Nursing will review the materials submitted as part of the application.  Specific specialty area faculty may request an interview with a student.

Applicants to the DNP program with a nurse anesthesia specialty should contact for information about admission to the DNP program with the nurse anesthesia track.
