About KU School of Nursing

Since it began offering nursing education in 1906, KU has been preparing nurses to anticipate the challenges of health care delivery. With a strong foundation in both theory and practice, our graduates are well-prepared to success in the ever-changing, high-tech health care environment.

The KU School of Nursing offers bachelor's, master's and doctoral degrees, as well as an RN-to-BSN/MS option for registered nurses interested in pursuing advanced degrees. One of the nation's top public university-based nursing programs, the KU School of Nursing has opened new doors for nurses everywhere by bringing the classroom to the student with its online programs.  The School of Nursing's faculty are outstanding in teaching, research, and clinical practice.

Physically located in Kansas City, Kansas, the KU School of Nursing is an integral component of the University of Kansas and the KU Medical Center. Recognizing that high-quality health care delivery of the future will rely on interdisciplinary health care teams, the KU School of Nursing supports education and research across the disciplines. Students and faculty have opportunities to learn with peers and colleagues from the KU Schools of Allied Health and Medicine, which are also located on the KU Medical Center campus.

The KU School of Nursing also has an online presence.  Several programs are now offered completely online (PhD, RN-to-BSN/MS), and many courses throughout all programs are either offered entirely online or are web-enhanced.  Completely online and web-enhanced courses have a faculty member assigned to individual courses, have a structured course syllabus, and have assignment deadlines throughout the semester.  Online courses are a different learning experience, but they incorporate many of the features our face-to-face courses have, while offering flexibility in your weekly scheduling.
