Barbara Parker, CNM, RN, APRN

Clinical Instructor

Barbara Parker, CNM, RN, APRN, is a clinical instructor in the Nurse-Midwife Program and the Family Nurse Practitioner Program at the KU School of Nursing. In addition to being a Certified Nurse Midwife, her nursing career has included nursing positions in medical/surgical, labor and delivery, emergency department and as a Family Nurse Practitioner. 

In 2001, Parker was one of the first graduates of the KU School of Nursing’s Nurse-Midwife Program.

Upon completion of the KU Nurse-Midwife Program, Parker practiced as a nurse midwife for five years in Rockford, Ill. She was the first midwife to practice at three local hospitals there.

As an FNP, Parker has practiced with a large group of physicians in private practice, was briefly employed in an emergency department setting and more recently was employed in a retail clinic setting.  She is a member of the American College of Nurse Midwives and the American Association of Nurse Practitioners.
