Program Director for Advanced Practice Programs
Nurse Practitioner, KUMC Family Medicine
PhD, APRN, FNP-B, joined the KU School of Nursing faculty in 1993. She also holds a dual appointment as an assistant professor in the KU School of Medicine. She teaches in the KU School of Nursing’s Family Nurse Practitioner program and the Doctor of Nursing Practice Program, in addition to providing primary care for patients across the lifespan in the Department of Family Medicine. Dr. Ebbert also serves as the clinic medical director for that department. In June 2009, was appointed Director for Advanced Practice Programs at the KU School of Nursing.
Dr. Ebbert’s research interest is in the area of policy development with a special interest in the uninsured and health care disparities. In 2009 she was appointed to a position on the at large advisory council for the Kansas Health Policy Authority.
Dr. Ebbert is a member of the American Nurses Association, the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners, Sigma Theta Tau International, Kansas State Nurses Association and the National Association of Nurse Practitioner Faculties. In 2001, she received the Phyllis Keeney Lawrence Teaching Award.
She has presented more than 200 programs for continuing education credits and as a guest lecturer for college courses. Topics of these courses have included care of the operative patient, physical assessment, care of the patient with diabetes, women’s health issues, documentation, role of the advanced practice nurse, principles of patient education, legal issues for nurses, casting and splinting, advanced suturing, x-ray interpretation, common dermatological problems, pharmacology for nurses, medical office nursing and alternative therapies.
