This course involves exposure to patients followed in an ambulatory psychiatry setting. Students will have the opportunity to learn to evaluate and manage a cross section of patients with psychiatric complaints. Clinical evaluations and exposure to actual patients. Students will first observe and later lead evaluation of patients and formulate treatment plans with attending physicians. Readings in ambulatory patient care and diagnosis interviewing are a part of the course. Patients will be ambulatory clinic patients at the KUMC outpatient clinic, the Kansas City-VA Hospital Mental Hygiene Clinic, a facility clinic location, or the community mental health centers. Prerequisite: PYCH 900.
