Species: mouse

Tissue: lymphoma

Features: YAC-1 is a T cell lymphoma which was induced by inoculation of the Moloney leukemia virus (MLV) into a newborn A/Sn mouse. This cell line is sensitive to the cytotoxic activity of naturally occurring killer cells in mice (= NK cell target).

Reference:

Mode of Growth: in suspension. For low background (spontaneous 51Cr release) in cytotoxicity assays, a viability of >95% is needed. This can be achieved by preventing overgrowth of the cells (passage every 2-3 days, especially on the day before the assay).

Method of Passage: dilution (usually 1 : 10)

Culture Medium: RPMI 1640 with 2 mM L-glutamine, 10% FBS

Freeze Medium: culture medium + 10% DMSO

Source: ATCC TIB-160
