Microarray Facility

Mission Statement

The University of Kansas Medical Center - Microarray Facility (MF) was established by the University of Kansas School of Medicine and operates in partnership with the KUMC Biotechnology Support Facility (BSF) and with the support of the Smith Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities Research Center (SIDDRC) NICHD HD 02528. The mission of the Microarray Facility is to provide centralized access to gene expression microarray technology for the advancement of research conducted by investigators of KUMC, Kansas Regents Institutions and member institutions of the Kansas City Area Life Science Initiative (KCALSI).

About the Microarray Facility

The University of Kansas Medical Center has established a Microarray Facility featuring the Affymetrix GeneChip® System. Utilizing GeneChip® expression arrays, researchers can monitor gene expression in multiple modeling systems and conduct genome wide SNP analysis. Microarray data can be analyzed using the analysis software GeneSpring, Data Mining Tool or online with NetAffxTM Analysis Center at www.affymetrix.com. The Microarray Facility operates in conjunction with the KUMC Bioinformatics Core which serves as a resource for data analysis.
