About Information Security

In its role as an academic medical center, KUMC balances the need for a relatively open technology architecture with the need to secure information resources against intrusion. The Information Security department works with system and network administrators across all KUMC entities to:

• Develop and maintain security policies and standard practices
• Monitor security threats and vulnerabilities
• Identify and implement solutions to protect KUMC resources
• Educate KUMC communities about security issues
• Facilitate security training
• Maintain incident response plan and coordinate response team
• Lead security committee (members include University, Hospital and KUPI representatives)
