Leadership
Mr. Rick Couldry, M.S., R.Ph.
Rick graduated from The
University of Missouri at Kansas City with a B.S degree in Pharmacy.
In 1997, he received his M.S. in Hospital Pharmacy from The University
of Kansas. Concurrently, while completing graduate work, he
completed a two-year residency at the University of Kansas Hospital.
After serving as an Assistant Director of Pharmacy at The University of
Kansas Hospital for a number of years, he was promoted to Director of
Pharmacy in 2004. Mr. Couldry is Program Director of the Pharmacy
Practice Management Residency Program and also serves as a Clinical
Assistant Professor at the University of Kansas School of Pharmacy.
His interest areas include medications safety, application of pharmacy
technology, drug policy, and pharmacy information management.
Additionally, he serves as Secretary of the Pharmacy and Therapeutics
Committee. Mr. Couldry has been with the University of Kansas
Hospital since 1991.
Dr.
Brian O'Neal, M.S., Pharm.D.
Brian graduated from The University of Kansas
with a Pharm.D. degree in 1998. In 2000, he received his M.S. in
Hospital Pharmacy from The Ohio State University in Columbus. While
finishing his graduate work, he completed a two-year administrative
residency at The Ohio State University Medical Center. Dr. O’Neal began
his career at The University of Kansas Hospital as Inpatient Pharmacy
Operations Manager and was promoted to Assistant Director of Pharmacy in
February 2003. His administrative interests include drug utilization,
cost reduction, inpatient operations, pharmacy automation, purchasing,
finance, and JCAHO compliance. Dr. O’Neal has been with The University
of Kansas Hospital since July 2000.
Dr.
Leigh Anne Scott, Pharm.D., MBA
Leigh Anne graduated from the University of
Missouri at Kansas City with a B.S. degree in Pharmacy in 1988. She
later earned a Pharm.D. degree in 1993 and a MBA degree in 2004, both
from The University of Kansas. Currently, Dr. Scott serves as Assistant
Director of Pharmacy at The University of Kansas Hospital and as
Clinical Assistant Professor at The University of Kansas School of
Pharmacy. Her responsibilities include overseeing the clinical pharmacy
and investigational drug services. Dr. Scott is also part of the
Infectious Disease Medical Director Partnership and co-chairs the
Antibiotic Subcommittee and Medication Safety Subcommittee. Dr. Scott
has been with The University of Kansas Hospital since 1988.
Dr.
Samaneh Wilkinson, M.S., Pharm.D.
Samaneh graduated from the University of
Missouri at Kansas City in 2003 with her Pharm.D. degree. In 2005, she
received a M.S. in Hospital Pharmacy from The University of Kansas.
While finishing her graduate work, she completed a two-year
administrative residency at The University of Kansas Hospital. Dr.
Wilkinson is actively involved with numerous organizations such as ACCP,
the Kansas Pharmacists Association, and the Greater Kansas City Society
of Hospital Pharmacists. She currently serves as Clinical Manager and
Residency Coordinator at The University of Kansas Hospital. Her interest
areas include antibiotic management, clinical services, and residency
coordination. Dr. Wilkinson has been with The University of Kansas
Hospital since July 2003.
Harold N. Godwin, M.S., RPh, FASHP
Harold graduated from the University of
Kansas with a BS degree in pharmacy. Later he received his M.S. degree
in hospital pharmacy from The Ohio State University in Columbus.
Concurrently, with graduate work, he completed a two-year residency at
The Ohio State University Hospitals. Harold Godwin is Professor and
Chairman of the Pharmacy Practice Department at the KU School of
Pharmacy. He also serves as Associate Dean of Pharmacy for Medical
Center Affairs. He stepped down from the Director of Pharmacy position
at KU Medical Center after holding this position for 34 years. He
has served as Board Member and President of the American Society of
Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy
Education (ACPE), the Kansas Pharmacists Association, and the Greater
Kansas City Society of Hospital Pharmacists. He recently was elected to
the American Pharmacists Association (APhA) Board of Trustees for
2006-2009. He has been recognized many times for his contributions
to pharmacy, receiving awards including the Clifton J. Latiolais Award,
the Harvey A.K.Whitney Award, and the John W. Webb Lecture Award. Last
year he received the first annual Harold N. Godwin Leadership Legacy
Award initiated by the University of Kansas Medical Center Residency
graduates and preceptors. He has dedicated his professional career
to developing comprehensive pharmacy services, pharmacy education, and
developing leaders in the profession of pharmacy.
Mr.
Jon Ternus, R.Ph., BCNP
John graduated from Drake University in 1990 with a
B.S. in Pharmacy. He has been a nuclear pharmacist since 1998, and in
December 2000 he received his Board Certification in Nuclear Pharmacy.
Mr. Ternus is the Director of Nuclear Pharmacy Services at The
University of Kansas Hospital. His responsibilities include the in-house
nuclear pharmacy and the cyclotron facility for production of positron
emission tomography (PET) isotopes. He is an Adjunct Clinical Assistant
Professor in the Department of Pharmacy Practice, serves as instructor
for both The University of Kansas Medical Center and Research Hospital’s
nuclear medicine technologist programs, and coordinates the only
international Nuclear Pharmacy Drug Information Center. Mr. Ternus has
been with The University of Kansas Hospital since June 2003.
Ms.
Joyce Generali, M.S., R.Ph., FASHP
Joyce graduated from The University of
Connecticut in 1979 with a B.S. in Pharmacy followed by a Pharmacy
Practice Residency at the Medical Colleges of Virginia Hospital in 1980.
Later in 1982, she received her M.S. from The University of Kansas after
completion of a two-year residency with graduate work. Currently, she
serves as Director of the Drug Information Specialty Residency Program
and Clinical Professor at The University of Kansas. Her responsibilities
include coordinator of adverse drug reactions, product problem
reporting, newsletter publication, web page development, and preparation
of formulary evaluations. Ms. Generali served as Director of the Drug
Information Center at The University of Kansas from 1982-1986 and at the
University of Rhode Island from 1986-1990. She has since returned to KU
and has been Director of the Drug Information Center since 1990. Her
research interests and recent publications focus on “off-label” drug use
and “black box” warnings.
Ms. Joann Lacy, R.Ph.
Joann graduated from the University of Kansas with a B.S. degree in
Pharmacy in 1993. She began her career as a clinical pharmacist at The
University of Kansas Hospital and served as the lead Pediatric
Pharmacist for 10 years. During that time, she was involved with
numerous Pediatric and Pediatric ICU Quality Improvement initiates,
including development and implementation of standardized order forms,
publishing monthly Medication Safety newsletters, and the development of
Nursing Protocols and Pharmacy Policies. In 2005, Ms. Lacy was promoted
to Medication Safety Coordinator. Her current focus areas include
Medication Reconciliation, Medication Incident Prevention and Review,
and Policy Development and Review. Ms. Lacy also serves as as Adjunct
Clinical Assistant Professor for the University of Kansas School of
Pharmacy, secretary for the Medication Safety Subcommittee, as well as
the hospital representative for the Medication Safety Medical Director
Partnership. Ms. Lacy has been with The University of Kansas Hospital
since 1993.
