Pharmacy Practice Management Residency

 
                2nd Year Residents

Dr. Melinda Carter
Melinda attended the University of Kansas School of Pharmacy and graduated with a PharmD degree in May 2004. While 
attending the University of Kansas she participated in various organizations such as Kappa Epsilon, which promotes women 
in pharmacy leadership roles and the Academy of Students of Pharmacy (ASP-APhA). Currently Dr. Carter is a first year 
resident at the University of Kansas, in the Pharmacy Practice Management program.
 

Dr. Andy D. Gons
Andy is originally from Tiffin, Ohio. Dr. Gons attended The Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio and graduated with his 
Doctor of Pharmacy degree in June 2004. While in pharmacy school, he was very active with pharmacy organizations 
including the American Pharmacists Association-Academy of Students of Pharmacy (APhA-ASP), the American Society of 
Health-Systems Pharmacists (ASHP), and the Ohio Pharmacists Association (OPA) where he served in various 
leadership roles. While at Ohio State, Dr. Gons received the Target Pharmacy Outstanding Student Leadership Award, the 
APhA-ASP Student Leadership Award, the OPA Student Leadership Award, and the Stephen W. Birdwell Student Award. 
Currently, Dr. Gons is practicing at The University of Kansas Hospital where he is in his second year of the Pharmacy 
Practice Management Residency and is working on a Master's Degree in Pharmacy Practice. His interest areas 
include pediatrics, clinical management, ambulatory care and academia.

 

   Dr. Nathan Hanson
Nathan grew up in Hamilton, Illinois. He attended Drake University and received his Doctor of Pharmacy Degree in 
May 2004. While at Drake he participated in intramural sports, residence life, InterVarsity Christian Fellowship, Iowa 
Pharmacy Association, ASP/APhA, and ASHP. Drake selected him for the Ethics, Leadership, and Scholarship 
Award upon his graduation. He is in the second year of the Pharmacy Practice Management Residency and is taking 
classes to earn his Master's of Pharmacy Practice. Dr. Hanson is pursuing this residency to develop his skills in health 
care policy, clinical pharmacy, and leadership.
 

     1st Year Residents

Dr. Chad Allen Edgar
Chad originally hails from Columbus, Ohio, where he obtained his B.S. in both Biology and Chemistry from Otterbein 
College in 1997. He then spent two years in Miami, Florida, at the University of Miami for graduate studies in Biochemistry. 
Finally, in May of 2005, Chad received his Doctor of Pharmacy degree from Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale, 
Florida, graduating with highest honors. While at NSU, Dr. Edgar participated in ASHP, Florida Pharmacy Association, 
APhA-ASP, was Vice-President of Student Government Association, and participated in other various leadership roles. 
He is a member of Rho Chi Pharmacy Honor Society, Phi Lambda Sigma Leadership Society, Kappa Psi Pharmaceutical 
Fraternity, National Scholars Honor Society, and Who’s Who Among American Colleges and Universities. Dr. Edgar received
the NSU Leadership Award in 2005 and his interests include infectious disease, critical care, and pediatrics.

  Dr. John Worden
John is originally from Norton, Kansas. John attended the University of Kansas and graduated with a Doctor of pharmacy 
degree in 2005. While in pharmacy school, he was very active with pharmacy organizations including APhA-ASP, ASHP, 
Greater Kansas City Pharmacy Society, and the Kansas Pharmacists Association. Currently, John is in his first year of 
the Pharmacy Practice Management Residency and is taking classes to earn his Master's of Pharmacy Practice degree. 
His personal interest areas have led him to pursue developing his skills in hematology, oncology, health care policy 
and leadership.
