Residency Description

The University of Kansas Medical Center and School of Pharmacy in cooperation with several community pharmacies throughout the state, welcome you to this unique community practice residency that provides a structured, post graduate education and training experience. This is an experience for pharmacists whose ability, motivation and career aspirations suggest potential for creative and innovative leadership in community pharmaceutical care practice. In view of the number of new drugs being developed, emerging reimbursement trends, changing health care delivery patterns, specialization in health care and increased need to improve drug therapy management, such an advanced training program is important.

Residency Goals

The Community Pharmacy Residency is designed to:

Prepare the resident to assume ownership, management, or other significant roles in community pharmacy practice.

Provide the resident with experience in a progressive, educationally oriented community setting to develop administrative, clinical and research skills applicable to community practice, in providing comprehensive pharmaceutical care.

Encourage the resident to become an active member of the community by participating with the health care team in the delivery of health and service programs.

Enhance the public awareness of the community healthcare contributions of the pharmacist.
