Harold N. Godwin, M.S., RPh, FASHP
Professor and Chairman of the Pharmacy Practice Department
  

Harold graduated from the University of Kansas with a BS degree in pharmacy. Later he received his M.S. degree in hospital pharmacy from The Ohio State University in Columbus. Concurrently, with graduate work, he completed a two-year residency at The Ohio State University Hospitals.  Harold Godwin is Professor and Chairman of the Pharmacy Practice Department at the KU School of Pharmacy. He also serves as Associate Dean of Pharmacy for Medical Center Affairs. He stepped down from the Director of Pharmacy position at KU Medical Center after holding this position for 34 years.
He has served as Board Member and President of the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), the Kansas Pharmacists Association, and the Greater Kansas City Society of Hospital Pharmacists. He recently was elected to the American Pharmacists Association (APhA) Board of Trustees for 2006-2009.
He has been recognized many times for his contributions to pharmacy, receiving awards including the Clifton J. Latiolais Award, the Harvey A.K.Whitney Award, and the John W. Webb Lecture Award. Last year he received the first annual Harold N. Godwin Leadership Legacy Award initiated by the University of Kansas Medical Center Residency graduates and preceptors.
He has dedicated his professional career to developing comprehensive pharmacy services, pharmacy education, and developing leaders in the profession of pharmacy.


 

Dr. Dennis Grauer, Ph.D., M.S., B.S.

Dennis earned his Ph.D. in Pharmacy from The Ohio State University in 2000. Dr. Grauer received his M.S. in Hospital Pharmacy in 1991 from The Ohio State University and B.S. in pharmacy in 1989 from The University of Kansas. He completed an ASHP accredited residency program in 1991 at The Ohio State University Medical Center. Dr. Grauer completed a two-year health economic fellowship in the Transplantation Division at Ohio State. He served as the Director of Outcomes Measurement and Research for The Ohio State University Medical Center for 3 years. Dr. Grauer has authored and co-authored published articles in diverse refereed journals. He has served as an editor/reviewer for three journals. He is frequently an invited speaker at state and national meetings. His research interests include topics such as outcome measurement, use of outcome data, managed care data utilization, marketing, pharmacoeconomics and outcomes research methodology. Dr. Grauer currently serves as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Pharmacy Practice at The University of Kansas.

   cardiopulmonary bypass: a pilot study.
 -(Barnes BJ, PI) The impact of prophylactic amiodarone on postoperative atrial fibrillation after cardiac surgery: A retrospective
   evaluation of efficacy and cost-effectiveness.
 -(Barnes BJ, PI) Is the use of prophylactic amiodarone in cardiac surgery patients at low-risk for postoperative atrial fibrillation
   justified? Submitted October 1, 2005, pending protocol review.
