Postdoctoral Fellow (4 positions)

Cal Poly Counseling Services is searching for four postdoctoral fellows for the 2014-15 academic year. This is a 12-month position that begins July 31, 2014. The position requires 1800 hours in order for successful completion but the fellow can opt to complete up to 2,000 hours if desired.
Postdoctoral fellows are expected to provide at least 65% (i.e., 26 hours per week average) direct service (individual, couples, group therapy, outreach presentations) to registered Cal Poly students. This includes crisis intervention and presenting Counseling Services’ 3-week ACT group/workshop. The position requires considerable crisis intervention and work with serious presenting concerns as well as the ability to conceptualize cases and provide diagnoses within sociocultural context (training in DSM5 will be provided as necessary).
Postdoctoral fellows will be provided individual and group supervision on a weekly basis in compliance with California Licensing Law (i.e., at least 10% of total time worked) as well as participating in all staff meetings, trainings and case conferences. Postdoctoral fellows are considered part of the staff, have their own offices, and are the only trainees on staff (i.e., there are no interns or practicum students for 2014-15).
By the start date of the postdoctoral fellowship, the candidate must have completed a doctoral degree from an APA-accredited program in Counseling or Clinical Psychology, including completion of an APA-accredited or APPIC-member internship consisting of at least 1,500 hours. In addition, candidates must have demonstrated experience providing short-term individual and group psychotherapy, including intake assessments and crisis intervention and outreach/workshops/presentations to a young adult population.
Previous experience in a college or university counseling center.
