Position Description
Psychologist (Position # 992610), Full-time, 10-months
The Florida Atlantic University Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) is hiring a full-time Psychologist. The nature of the hire is dependent on licensure status and experience. The Psychologist is a generalist who shares with other clinical staff responsibilities for carrying out the multi-faceted mission of CAPS. Additionally, a specialization will be sought for a psychologist to take the lead on our Research and Assessment Teams, serve as a consultant to the center on all research related issues including IRB submission, national conference symposium, submissions, general research questions and will be asked to build relationships with those in the university and surrounding areas who can assist with our statistical consultation and needs.
The successful candidate will have outstanding skills in providing therapy in a time-limited context, with a demonstrated ability to work collaboratively across cultures and with clinical and non-clinical colleagues, campus departments and student groups; and the ability to provide outreach/consultation to campus constituents on a range of mental health issues. CAPS is moving towards becoming an IACS and APA accredited institution, and the successful candidate will assist in those endeavors. Finally, the candidate will assist us in our ongoing effort to build a multiculturally competent staff capable of serving the needs of a diverse student body.

Specific duties and responsibilities as a Psychologist may include, but are not limited to:

1. Providing intake assessment and time-limited
counseling and psychotherapy for individuals and
couples
2. Providing group counseling
3. Providing outreach and clinical services that
address the needs of the general student population
as well as the needs of underserved populations
4. Participating in psychological emergency, crisis
intervention and trauma response
5. Training/supervising of interns and practicum
students
6. Participating in various Student Affairs/University
activities and committees
7. Scholarly activity (professional presentation,
leadership and research)
8. Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications
A Doctorate in Counseling or Clinical Psychology from an APA accredited program in a College or University completed on or before start date. Program must include one year of supervised internship experience in professional psychology at an APA accredited Doctoral internship site. One year of experience in a college counseling center required. Licensed or license eligible in the State of Florida as a Psychologist (supervision is available for licensure as a Psychologist).

•Our staff consists of clinicians in clinical psychology, counseling psychology, mental health counseling, psychiatry and psychiatric nursing.
