University Counseling Services is seeking a talented and hardworking individual who is passionate about enhancing the psychosocial development and emotional well-being of CSUN students. Working under the general supervision of the Director of University Counseling Services (UCS), the SSP AR I Counselor, as a member of the Division of Student Affairs with faculty rank, collaborates with faculty, staff, and students to develop and implement appropriate campus/community psycho-educational programs and interventions to increase student academic and personal success. This position requires excellence in clinical service delivery to a diverse student population including the provision of:
Intake assessment and short-term individual and couples counseling
Group psychotherapy and structured psycho-educational groups and workshops
Crisis intervention and management (including hospitalization)
On-campus and off-campus referrals
Clinical supervision and training of pre-doctoral interns and support of the APA accredited pre-doctoral internship
Services and teaching of workshops/classes to students struggling with academic confidence issues
Collaborative service within a multidisciplinary team
Consultation to faculty, staff, and various campus constituencies regarding students in distress
Provision of services and programs to support all students from diverse populations, particularly Latino/a students,
and to enhance student life
Design and implementation of outreach programs and interventions that support the learning centered mission of the
division of student affairs
University Counseling Services seeks a psychologist committed to working with a diverse population of university students. Competitive candidates will have completed an APA accredited internship at a university counseling center and graduated from an APA accredited doctoral program in counseling or clinical psychology. Qualified candidates should demonstrate expertise in working with a diverse student population, including interest and experience in working with Latino/a and first-generation college students. Qualified candidates must possess a doctoral degree in clinical or counseling psychology. One year of prior university/college counseling experience preferred, and must obtain a valid license to practice as a psychologist in the state of California within 18 months of appointment date. Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of mental health professionals is essential.
