Position Description
Due to new funding, SUNY Cortland seeks candidates for the full time 12-month position of Psychologist in the College’s Counseling Center. The successful candidate will provide individual, couples, and group counseling; referrals to psychiatric and/or medical personnel; crisis intervention; as well as consultation and outreach programming. The psychologist will report to the Director of Counseling & Student Development, and work closely with staff from Student Health Services, Disability Services, Career Services, Residence Life and Housing, Alcohol and Other Drug Prevention and Education, Health Promotion, and other faculty and staff from across the campus.

Minimum Qualifications
Doctoral degree in clinical or counseling psychology from an APA accredited program and completed internship; full license (or license eligible) as a psychologist in the State of New York within one year of hire date; demonstrated knowledge and skills in time-limited psychotherapy; experience in crisis intervention and consultation; ability to work at a fast pace and handle spontaneous work demands; interest in working with a diverse student population and demonstrated multicultural competence; experience in providing outreach to campus communities, particularly underserved and vulnerable populations; strong communication skills.

Desired Qualifications
One year, full-time equivalent, APA approved internship in a college counseling center; recent college or university counseling center staff experience; ability to work cooperatively in a multidisciplinary team environment; excellent analytical and organizational skills; computer literacy and data analysis; expertise in clinical supervision.

Region Description
The College is located on 191 acres in Cortland, in central New York. Nearby are the beautiful Finger Lakes region, the Adirondacks and the Catskill Mountains, and Lake Ontario. Cortland is within easy access of Ithaca and Syracuse, and only a few hours from New York City.
