Position Description
The California Institute of Technology (Caltech) Counseling Center is pleased to announce 1 postdoctoral residency opportunity for 2014-2015. This temporary full-time position is 40 hours per week, beginning September 3rd, 2014 and ending June 26th, 2015.

The residency is designed to build expertise in university mental health through advanced clinical training, close liaison and consultation experiences with various campus offices, outreach to numerous student groups, and didactic seminars. Clinically, the resident will provide short- and long-term individual psychotherapy, group therapy, intakes, crisis intervention, consultation, and will participate in the after-hours on-call rotation. The resident will also provide regular outreach and consultation services through the office of International Student Programs and the Caltech Center for Diversity. The postdoctoral resident will also participate in weekly staff meetings and didactic seminars that cover a wide variety of topics within university mental health.

We are a CAPIC-approved postdoctoral training site, and the resident is anticipated to receive at least the 1500 hours of supervised experience required for licensure in California. Please note that we had previously announced two half-time postdoctoral positions. Those positions have been withdrawn, and this posting supersedes them.

Minimum Qualifications
Applicants must have completed a predoctoral internship in a university counseling setting; practicum experience alone is not sufficient.

Candidates must also possess a doctoral degree from an accredited clinical or counseling psychology program by the start date of the residency. This is defined as having on the first day of the residency either the diploma in hand, or a letter from the Director of Graduate Studies verifying completion of all degree requirements pending the institution’s graduation ceremony. ABD status is not acceptable. After selection, candidates must pass a required background check.

Desired Qualifications
Candidates should have experience working with diverse populations.
