Position Description
Dickinson College seeks a post doctoral resident for our Wellness Center. The Wellness Center provides integrated healthcare services to students at the college, including counseling and psychiatric services, health services, and nutrition services. This is a full-time, 12-month training position designed to prepare the resident to become a staff psychologist in a university or college setting with a particular emphasis on working within an integrated center that prioritizes a team approach to student health concerns. The resident will have the opportunity to refine generalist clinical skills, as well as other skills relevant to the functioning of staff psychologists. The post doctoral resident will participate in the emergency on-call rotation and campus housing will be provided to ensure that the resident is able to respond in a timely manner. The resident will participate in professional development activities, within and outside the college. Additionally, the resident will have the opportunity, if desired, to begin to develop administrative skills relevant to future career pursuits. Dickinson’s Wellness Center is dedicated to supporting the healthy development of our students and we seek a collaborative colleague who can add to the breadth and depth of services we provide. In addition, the Wellness Center is an integrated part of the campus community and we seek staff members interested in collaborating within and across the divisions of the college. Successful candidates will be able to articulate ways in which they will assist the Wellness Center in connecting with particular groups of students or other campus partners in order that we can best serve the needs of the campus community.

Essential Functions:
• Provide direct clinical services to students, including assessment, treatment, and crisis intervention
• Provide consultation, education and outreach services to faculty, staff, and students on developmental, mental health and harm-reduction issues
• Participate in the center’s evening and weekend on-call rotation, as well as assist in campus-wide crisis situations
• Collaborate with colleagues across campus to develop strategies for optimizing student strengths and healthy development, as well as for the prevention and intervention of psychological and behavioral concerns

Minimum Qualifications
• Ph.D. or Psy.D in Clinical or Counseling Psychology from an APA accredited doctoral program
• APPIC or APA accredited pre-doctoral internship, completed by start date
• Dedication to training as a generalist clinician and commitment to working from an integrated healthcare model
• Knowledge of and commitment to the application of the highest standards of legal and ethical principles
• Experience providing crisis assessment and intervention services
• Multicultural competence with the ability to work with a diverse student body
• Understanding of student development issues
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and time management skills
• Previous experience working in a college or university environment
• Experience providing after hours on-call services
• Breadth of past clinical experience including the assessment and/or treatment of serious and persistent mental illness
• Interest in providing educational and outreach programming
• Depth of experience in working with a particular cultural group represented at Dickinson
• Experience and interest in facilitating groups
• Familiarity with electronic medical records systems
