Position Description
The primary responsibilities of the position are:
A. To provide direct therapeutic and diagnostic counseling and/or education to students having social, emotional, academic, and/or substance abuse concerns
B. To administer and interpret results of assessment instruments
C. To assist in providing on-going training and/or staff development to students and resident advisers
D. To provide outreach services to the University Community
E. To provide instruction or instructional leadership or coordination of psycho-educational programs for students.
F. To be present and support freshman orientation activities
G. To complete other duties as assigned by the Director of the Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) and/or the Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs.


Minimum Qualifications
To possess a Masterís Degree in counseling, psychology, or a related field, preferably from a CACREP or an APA accredited program. To have experience in counseling, assessment within an educational setting, and college student services. To have credentials as a National Certified Counselor and as a NC Licensed Professional Counselor or eligible for licensure as a Psychologist in NC.


Desired Qualifications
A doctorate in counseling, psychology, or related field, preferably from a CACREP or an APA accredited program is highly desirable. Mental health counseling/therapy, assessment, psycho-education assessment and program evaluation experience is also highly desired.
