Position Description
A full-time, 52 week, professional Psychiatric Social Worker position is open working under the general direction of the Director of the Center for Counseling and Psychological Health. This position is responsible for evaluation and treatment of a wide range of patients presenting to clinic. Coordinates community outreach and workshops, including suicide prevention activities. Participates in preventative mental health programs as consultant and leader of workshops and suicide prevention gatekeeper trainings. Provides crisis/liaison services, including regular intervention with emergency situations and highly acute patient situations.

Minimum Qualifications
Masters degree in social work (MSW), Licensure in Massachusetts for independent practice of social work (LICSW) or LICSW eligible. LICSW must be completed within 9 months of hire. 3 years of relevant professional experience, at least two of which must be post graduate degree. On-call responsibility requires after hours time; evening and some weekend time required for provision of workshops, trainings and community events.

University Description

A. GENERAL SUMMARY OF POSITION:

Under the general direction of the Director of the Center for Counseling and Psychological Health, is responsible for evaluation and treatment of a wide range of patients presenting to clinic. Coordinates community outreach and workshops, including suicide prevention activities. Participates in preventative mental health programs as consultant and leader of workshops and suicide prevention gatekeeper trainings. Provides crisis/liaison services, including regular intervention with emergency situations and highly acute patient situations.


B. EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:(Identify those duties that demand the greatest amount of time, attention, and are of key priority to the department. Include any duties which present unusual physical requirements such as standing, walking, exposure to chemical, etc.)

1. Range of clinical responsibilities
a. evaluation, crisis interventions, brief psychotherapies of wide variety of clients (individuals, couples, families, groups) presenting to clinic
b. on-call responsibilities in regular rotation for a variety of urgent and emergency situations in 24-48 hr. stints including nights, weekends and holidays
c. specialized tasks as defined with Director
2. Functional supervision of interns and teaching within training programs
3. Provides community consultations and workshops
a. Coordinates suicide prevention including gatekeeper training
b. Coordinates scheduling of community workshops for CCPH
a. Directly provides workshops
b. Arranges workshops to be provided by other CCPH staff as indicated
c. Collaborates with the Center for Health Promotion on community education around suicide, and a broad range general mental health related issues
d. Coordinates use of social media to support mental health promotion goals
e. Maintains active relationships with our community partners such as Residence Life, Dean of Students, Center for Student Development, Center for Health Promotion, etc.
f. Participates in UMatter University programming including by-stander intervention training.
4. Prepares timely written documentation of above activities as required
5. Understands and contributes to implementation of departmental and institutional goals for achieving non-discrimination and creating multicultural environment
6. Performs other duties as required


C. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: (Minimum required level of education: required licenses: years and nature of related experience: unique related physical ability, travel, working evenings and weekends, etc.)
