Position Description
The Counseling Center at the State University of New York College at Oneonta invites applications for the position of Alcohol and Other Drug (AOD) Counselor/Educator. This full-time position will report to the Director of Counseling. Expectations include working as part of a multidisciplinary team providing treatment, crisis counseling, and prevention services to students of the College. The Counseling Center provides counseling and outreach services for students of the College. Duties include but not limited to: providing assessment and short-term treatment or referral for students of the College, specializing in students who have or are at risk for AOD abuse problems; serving as educator and consultant to students, faculty, and staff regarding alcohol and drug related topics; administering educational program to students who violate the campus AOD policy; and providing leadership to the campus community in regard to AOD issues.



Minimum Qualifications
Masterís degree in counseling-related field; mental health licensure in NY, or license-eligible; two years of mental health counseling experience; and at least one year providing substance abuse treatment.



Desired Qualifications
Expertise in treatment for clients with AOD abuse or dependence problems; clinical experience as a generalist mental health counselor providing short-term services including conducting intakes, screenings, brief treatment, and referrals; experience with developing and presenting educational or prevention programming; work experience in a higher education setting; experience working with and serving diverse populations.
