Assistant Director of Counseling & Psychological Services for Training (Sr. Counselor)

Full-time counselor responsible for the provision of psychological services to College students in the form of intake and psychological assessment, crisis intervention, individual, couples, group therapy, and collaboration in outreach activities. Provide leadership, vision and supervision in directing of clinical internship and externship training programs for doctoral students in clinical psychology. Consult with psychiatrists in conjunction with prescribing and monitoring psychotropic medication for psychotherapy patients. Provide consultation services to campus community members. Organize and oversee the psycho-diagnostic testing administered at the Center. Perform psycho-diagnostic testing and reporting for students as well as provide supervision of trainees in this area. Assist the Director in the administration of the Center and take a leadership role in the Director’s absence, including after hours on call telephone consultations. Assist the Direct in data collection and statistical reporting of student information gathered. Maintain clinical records and necessary statistics of psychotherapeutic and other client contacts in compliance with agency policies and procedures and relevant law and professional ethics.
Ph.D. or PsyD in Clinical or Counseling Psychology with at least three years of clinical or counseling therapy experience required. Must be NY State licensed or qualified to attain such licensure within six months. Also required is experience in clinical supervision/training and psycho-diagnostic testing. Must relate well to students, personnel and faculty and other members of the college community. Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to function well as part of a collaborative team required. The successful candidate must be authorized to work in the United States.
Experience providing mental health services to a college population and experience with supervision and training of pre-doctoral interns preferred. Knowledge of psychodynamic theory, student development theory, interest and experience in multicultural concerns preferred.
