Salary range is commensurate with qualifications and experience.
The incumbent will be responsible for providing counseling services for students experiencing personal, social, and emotional difficulties that may impede academic progress. They provide intake assessment, short term individual counseling, group counseling, crisis intervention, life planning, consulting to the UMBC community, psycho-educational groups, outreach and developmental programs (including training for paraprofessional staff and student groups). Psychologists provide training and supervision for full-time doctoral interns and for practicum students. This position will report to the Counseling Center Director and work closely with staff from University Health Services, Career Services, Residential Life, Student Affairs staff and staff and faculty from across the campus. In addition, the incumbent will perform other duties as assigned.
Education/Experience: Requires a doctoral degree in Clinical or Counseling Psychology Must be licensed or license eligible as a psychologist in Maryland. Early career and experienced Psychologists are encouraged to apply. Preference will be given to candidates with (1) an interest in coordinating center multicultural services for our diverse student population and multicultural training for our staff and our doctoral internship program, (2) expertise in working with men, (3) and/or coordination of clinical services. The ability to be self-motivated and work collaboratively required. Must have demonstrated sensitivity to multicultural issues and demonstrated ability in working with diverse individuals and groups.
