Kansas State University invites applicants for a staff Psychologist for a full -time, 12 month position. The successful applicant will be a generalist with a strong interest in working with a college population. S/he will demonstrate either competence in providing effective interventions to diverse populations or have experience with diverse populations. Job duties include the following: providing short term individual, couple, and group therapy; conducting initial assessments, intakes, and crisis sessions; providing referrals and bridging care to the community as needed; providing supervision and training for interns in our APA accredited internship; consulting with students, faculty, and staff regarding mental health issues; participating in outreach activities to the campus community; and providing service to the campus community as requested by our Director.
During the academic year when classes are in session, we are open Mondays and Thursdays from 8 a.m. - 7 p.m. and Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. Staff work a day or evening schedule for a minimum of 40 hours per week. Occasional after hours and weekend work is required.

*Ph.D. or Psy.D. in Counseling Psychology, Clinical Psychology, or related discipline.
*Licensed Psychologist for a minimum of two years and licensed in the state of Kansas within one year of hire.
*Experience providing clinical supervision and training for pre and post-graduate trainees.
*Temporarily or fully licensed as a psychologist in Kansas at the start date of the position.
*A minimum of one year of work related experience at a college or university counseling center.
*Expertise in one or more of these areas: working with students who are military/military affiliated, providing outreach/presentations and/or coordination of outreach, supervision and/or training, eating disorders, or alcohol and drug issues.
*Experience in brief/solution focused therapy techniques.
*Demonstrated competency in providing bilingual therapy.
*Demonstrated competency in providing online/distance therapy.
*Completion of an APA-accredited internship.
Kansas State University Counseling Services is a comprehensive counseling service located on the Manhattan campus. We have a staff of 20 people including therapists, psychologists, psychology interns, and practicum students. We are an APA accredited training site for pre-doctoral psychology interns and a practicum site for students in K-State’s Marriage and Family Therapy program. Counseling Services includes an alcohol and other drug prevention program, a biofeedback laboratory, and a career development program that includes teaching of credit classes. The mission of the service is to support the educational goals of students through the process of decision-making, crisis intervention, and personal skill building.
