Rider University seeks a Counselor for a 10-month, full-time position in its Counseling Center to provide direct psychological services to graduate and undergraduate students on the Princeton and Lawrenceville campuses including: individual/group/couples counseling; crisis assessment and intervention; professional consultation to faculty, staff and students; developing and conducting outreach programs for campus community; and providing supervision to counseling trainees.
Successful candidate must possess a Master’s Degree or higher in counseling, social work, clinical psychology or a closely related field, along with 3-5 years of experience providing clinical mental health counseling, preferably in a counseling center or agency setting. Additional qualifications include: experience with a variety of mental health issues; psychiatric disorders; adjustment disorders; and crisis assessment, intervention and management. Individual must also have the ability to provide individual, group and couples therapy; skill in assessment, case conceptualization and treatment planning; the ability to develop and implement outreach and community programming; knowledge of student development and sensitivity to student diversity; excellent interpersonal, communication, administrative and organizational skills; and computer literacy.
Preferred qualifications: professional license or license-eligibility; experience with an adolescent and/or young adult population; experience with issues related to a college population, such as substance abuse, trauma and domestic violence, eating disorders, identity issues, depression, anxiety, and bipolar disorders; and ability to design and implement training activities for staff.
