• These positions are temporary and will be evaluated according to policy on temporary faculty. The positions are expected to be one year appointments with the opportunity to extend.
Position Characteristics: Primary duties will include provision of services to university students in the form of intake and psychological assessment, crisis intervention, individual, couples, and group therapy. Additional responsibilities include providing consultation to staff and faculty, conducting psychoeducational workshops, and clinical supervision to Psychological Services trainees in the intern training program. Outreach consists of consultation and liaison services to university organizations and departments such as the Educational Opportunity Program, Services for Students with Disabilities, Women’s Resource Center, Re-Entry Program, and Athletics. Candidate will develop and implement programs including but not limited to: presentations, workshops, prevention projects, seminars, mental health screening days, and other outreach services as requested. Occasional evening and weekend hours may be required. Specific assignments are dependent upon unit needs. The temporary faculty member, Licensed Counseling Professional, will be expected to engage in a program of appropriate professional development activities as well as service to all levels of the University. The successful candidate will be expected to work cooperatively with faculty and staff in the unit and University. These positions are expected to be one year appointments with the opportunity to extend and renew annually after review.
Academic Preparation: REQUIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS * Psy.D. or Ph.D. in Clinical or Counseling Psychology from an APA accredited program or a LCSW or LMFT. * Licensed or immediately license eligible in the state of California. Must obtain licensure within 6 months of employment. * Demonstrated ability to conduct brief group, individual and couples psychotherapy. * Experience working with issues pertinent to a diverse student population with a broad spectrum of psychological issues and experience or knowledge in working with high-risk clients. * Demonstrated ability to conduct intake clinical interviews, psycho-diagnostic assessment, case conceptualization, and treatment plan formulation. * Demonstrated ability to provide crisis intervention. * Demonstrated effectiveness in working with diverse issues including multi-racial and ethnic identity; gender and sexual identity, disabilities; spirituality, and varying socio-economic backgrounds. * Demonstrated ability to develop and implement outreach programs, provide consultation, engage in collaboration and teach. * Knowledge of and experience with direct clinical supervision. * Knowledge of applicable laws and ethics pertaining to mental health * Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills. * Knowledge of basic computer skills. * Strong planning and organizational skills. * Ability to collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of mental health and primary care providers within an integrated student health center.
Teaching Or Other Experience: PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS * Doctoral degree in Clinical or Counseling Psychology, Family Therapy, or Social Work. * Clinical experience in a college or university counseling center. * Administrative experience is preferred but not a requirement for final consideration.
* Evidence of training and expertise in cross-cultural therapy, substance abuse, eating disorders, and autism spectrum disorders. * Experience conducting LD/ADHD/Psycho diagnostic testing. * Clinical skills in working with high-risk clients. * Experience in crisis debriefing. * Experience with development of prevention and wellness programs suitable for college campuses. * Ability to assess and treat dually diagnosed clients. * Bilingual competence, particularly in Spanish and/or Hmong. * Experience in working with electronic medical record system. * To be eligible for this position you must be able to accept work either as a U.S. citizen or a foreign national authorized to accept work in the U.S.
Other Requirements: This position requires the satisfactory completion of a background check. This may include, submitting fingerprints to the LiveScan Print Services, and evidence of degree(s) and/or certification(s) at or prior to the appointment.
