Coordinator of Psychological Health Services for Student-Athletes

In mutual collaboration, Clemson Universityís Athletic Department and Counseling and Psychological Services have developed 12-month, 30 hours/week position with primary responsibility for serving the psychological needs of student-athletes.
DIRECT SERVICES E/65%
Primary emphasis on delivery of services to student athletes. Delivers counseling to clients on an individual, couples, and group format. Engages in diagnostic interviewing, development and implementation of treatment plans. Provides crisis intervention and
emergency services onsite. Collaborates with sports psychologist and other student-athlete services staff. Will collaborate with multidisciplinary team in the treatment of eating disorders and injury management. Allocates 18-20 clinical hours.
Conducts assessments to include administration and interpretation of assessment instruments as determined by the presenting problem. Conduct assessment of substance abuse issues.
3. Supervision of trainees:
Provides supervision for the various professional developmental needs of trainees.
Consults/collaborates with sports medicine physician for the holistic treatment of student athletes. Engages in consultation to Athletic Department staff regarding student athletes in crisis. Develops and provides relevant mental health programming/education to student athletes, coaches and other Athletic Department staff.
Engages in training of peers/trainees.
1. Serves as Coordinator of Psychological Health Services for Student-Athletes.
2. Determines program development, implementation and goal setting.
3. Facilitates communication between Counseling & Psychological Services and the Athletics Departmentís Student-athlete Services.
4. Completes clinical documentation, participates in staff meetings and training seminars.

1. Maintains appropriate professional licensure.
2.Attends and participates in professional conferences and
conventions at the local, regional and national levels.
3. Conducts program evaluation of services to student athletes.
Other duties as assigned.
Masterís degree in an applied psychology or related field. Licensure (or license eligible) in the State of South Carolina as a Licensed Professional Counselor(LPC).
Preference will be given to counselors with strong clinical skills, knowledge/experience in working with student athletes and experience with substance abuse counseling.

Redfern Health Center is a fully integrated medical and counseling and psychological services center and is accredited by the Joint Commission. CAPS psychology internship training is accredited by the American Psychological Association. It is also a training site for masterís interns, doctoral practicum students and licensed professional counseling interns.
The city of Clemson is located in the far western point of South Carolina in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains with easy access from Interstate 85.
